What happens when I come for treatment?
A full history and in depth consultation will be taken before treatment begins. You will then be invited to lay on the treatment couch. Like a traditional acupuncture treatment, access to your feet, legs, hands and arms will be needed, this is so that Bryony can needle the constitutional points to relax, ground and balance you so that the treatment can be as pleasurable as possible. These points will be needled first.
Before Bryony begins the facial needling, a full facial cleanse will be given, it is important to make sure that the skin is clean of any makeup or dirt.
The facial points and facial muscles protocol will be needled first using very fine acupuncture needles. in the next part of the treatment Bryony will be working on any fine lines and wrinkles, and areas you will have identified. Tiny intradermal needles are applied along these areas to stimulate collegen production.
Once all needles have been applied you will be left for 20 minutes to relax before all the needles are removed.
Once all needles have been removed a gentle facial massage will be given and your face will be rolled with a jade roller which is very cooling for the face and aids lymphatic draining, resulting in the body expelling a build up of toxins.
Does it hurt?
No, facial acupuncture does not hurt as the needles used are very fine and lightweight. You may experience warmth around the needle and an achy sensation but this is not painful. Some people may experience a feeling of a slight scratch to the skin when the intradermal needles are applied. If your skin is particularly sensitive a mild anaesthetic cream can be considered but this will need to be applied 30 minutes before needling so this should be the first thing we do before the consultation to save time and so that the cream can be working.
Will my makeup have to be removed?
Yes. A full cleanse is given to remove all makeup and dirt from the skin. You may wish to do this at home before you come to the clinic with your usual products, it is entirely up to you.
How long will the treatment take?
For the first treatment up to two hours will be needed as a full in depth consultation will be carried out and it is important to get to know you and your needs. Subsequently treatment will take an hour and a half.
How soon will I see results?
It is advisable to begin on a ‘course’ of treatment to maximise the effects of facial cosmetic acupuncture. This said, improvements can be evident after the first treatment and many patients have reported significant enhancements in skin tone and quality after only three or four visits.
Patients can also undergo cosmetic acupuncture treatments as and when they feel they require them and they will notice a gradual improvement to their skin tone and condition as the treatments progress.
How often should I come for treatment?
A course of treatments can be carried out on a weekly basis or even a couple of times a week for more rapid results. After the course it is up to you how regularly you come for a ‘top up’ but I would recommend as regularly as you can, say once a month or every six weeks to get the continuous benefit from acupuncture not just cosmetically but on your mind and body as a whole.
